Explore the dynamic interrelationships between the human person and social institutions

The Journal of Religion, Culture & Democracy (JRCD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal focused on the intersection of religion and civil society. The dynamic interrelationships between the human person and social institutions—particularly the family, commercial enterprises, churches and faith-based organizations, and governments—are both permanent features of human society and simultaneously formed by cultural and historical contexts. JRCD exists to promote scholarship that critically examines the formative institutions for and the positive role of religion in the public square. This kind of inquiry is necessarily interdisciplinary, and so JRCD welcomes submissions from a variety of scholarly approaches, including history, philosophy, theology, economics, sociology, political science, and law. Contributions that are pursued from within a particular academic discipline are welcomed, as are those that are not only framed in interdisciplinary terms but also make use of diverse methods. Although JRCD is not a technical social scientific journal, the journal will consider submissions utilizing appropriate quantitative methods for the topic. JRCD publishes traditional research articles, book reviews, and review essays. Occasional special features, including translations, republication of classic studies, and thematic collections are also planned.
